JA Darkling
JA Darkling dreamed of being a writer since he was six years old. Due to early hearing issues, he could read before he could speak intelligibly—but instead of writing for a living, practicality steered him into procurement, a field that has little to do with storytelling unless one counts the art of creative negotiation.
Work filled his years, but his imagination had other priorities. It wandered off into history’s dustier corners, got tangled in mythology, fantasy, and the spiritual stories of distant cultures—ones rooted in nature and the unseen—and it refused to let go. When he’s not writing, he’s hiking unfamiliar trails, visiting zoos, or adding another concert poster to his collection.
His new Friday night tradition is watching classic films—most of which are older than he is, but not by much—with his cats. They showed no interest in hiking but have reluctantly accepted movie nights.
He believes stories should entertain, subvert expectations, or perhaps simply linger—like an old friend or an unpaid bill.
